5/6/7 May 2006
Friday, around noon, I arrived at the Welcome center of the TT-circuit.
Sorting the paperwork went smooth so I could enter the paddock short after.
It wasn't very busy so it was easy to get a nice spot to park the van.
Compared to a ZACday this was all very relaxed, arrive on friday, do 2 practices
on saturday and 1 race on sunday.
Saturday, scruteneering, no problem.
The first practice was red flagged after 2 laps because a rider had crashed
and was seriously injured. The accidaent happened right in front of me in
a fast corner called Meeuwenmeer.
In the remainder of the practice there was time for 2 more laps. Fastest time was 2:24.444.
Second practice was uninterrupted so I could get into a nice rhythm. A couple of
corners that I normally took in 3rd gear could be taken in 4th gear so it went
pretty well. Fastest time was 2:19.818!
I was riding in the B group of the Due Valvole class with Ducati 2-valves and because of
the high number of applicants also some Ducati 4-valves.
After combining the result of the A and B group I ended up on the 16th place on the
starting grid of the B group.
Sunday, raceday.
I lost a lot of places at the start, mostly to 2-cyclinder Ducati's. I could overtake
some of them during the race. At some point I outbraked a Ducati in the GT-corner.
He could get past me later on and after that I couldn't overtake him again.
I ended the race in 23rd position. Not bad for the first time!
