My first race! After long periods of rain at last a dry and sunny day. After paying the license and
registration fee the party could begin. Put the number (352) on the bike and off to scruteneering for
bike and helmet. Both were OK!

Free practice started at 9.45. My best time was 2:00.208. Slower than de 'Sterrijden' time I did on may 1st, but faster than during the CRT-day on april 1st.
Qualifying practice went much better. I did a 1:56.090 lap. Faster than the Sterrijden time! This lap time got me the 32nd place on the grid (on a total of 37 riders).
I ruined the start of the first race by getting off the line too late. I knew I had to go when the red lights go off but somehow I didn't. Well, being that far back on the grid it didn't really matter much. Because of the bad start I was fighting with people that were behind me on the grid for most of the race. I was able to overtake them and finished in 32nd place! I got lapped so I only had to do 7 laps. My fastest lap was 1:56.726, total time was 12:32.057.
I was in 32nd place on the grid for the second race because the result of the first race determines the starting grid for the second race. This time I had a good start. But I was overtaken by a couple of faster bikes before the first corner. After a couple of laps I had overtaken some slower riders and had an empty track in front of me. I could slowly reel in a rider ahead of me. I managed to get close to him but wasn't able to overtake. I ended the race in 31st position. Fastest lap was 1:56.342 was just a little bit faster than the first race but the total race time of 12:18.719 was about 13 seconds faster. That was an average of about 13 seconds quicker per lap!
Al met al een zeer geslaagde dag wat mij betreft. Geen technische problemen, geen valpartij en ik heb lekker gereden (en een nieuw PR op Assen). All in all a very good day. No technical problems, no crashes and the riding went very well (plus a new PR on Assen).
