Project 60

This project is called 60 because it is my intention to have the engine develop 60 bhp next season. I won't use the current engine for that but will be using the engine from the street bike. That engine is not very sound and that way I kill 2 birds with one stone because I only have to open 1 engine in order to get 2 healthy engines.
Bodywork and subframe from the street bike are transplanted too because that subframe is lighter and the coulor yellow is much faster than blue.

For me this is the first time that I do this kind of work on the engine and I am very happy that I get help from Arlan. He has been doing a lot of wrenching on the HTS supermono racer and his own Yamaha SZR supermono racer.

These things have to be done:

5 November 2006
Drained the oil and removed these parts:: bodywork, oil tank and muffler.

12 november 2006
Drained the coolant and removed these parts: radiator and hoses, front sprocket, carburettors and header pipes.

18 februari 2007
The street bike is finished, I took it for a spin this afternoon :-)
Cylinder, piston and camshaft have been fitted, only a valve check/adjust and the engine is ready to go back in the chassis.

24 february 2007
The race-engine is mounted in the race-chassis.

03 march 2007
The race-blok ran for the first time today. It fired up fairly easy.

07 apr 2007
Was it all worth it? Yes! 56 hp at the rear wheel. With an estimated 12% transmissionloss that means 64 hp at the crankshaft. Compared to the stock 48 hp that is an increase of 33%. In the chart below the green line corresponds to a testrun with a BSM Future Large silencer with dB-killer, the red lines correspond with a run with an open Remus Sport exhaust from the Dutch MuZ Cup. Louder but less powerful.
